About Where We Belong
Play. Connect. Belong.
Hi, I’m Ciara, the founder of Where We Belong.
I created Where We Belong because I wanted to build a space where children with additional needs could feel welcome, understood and supported. A space where children could explore, communicate, connect and simply enjoy being themselves, without pressure or expectations.
With over 14 years of experience supporting children with special educational needs, alongside qualifications in autism, communication, British Sign Language and child development, supporting children has always been at the heart of what I do.
But my understanding of additional needs doesn’t come from my professional experience alone. I’m also a SEN parent myself, and I understand how important it is to find spaces where your child is accepted, understood and welcomed without judgement.
I know how much it can mean to find somewhere your child can be themselves and where you feel comfortable bringing them, knowing they will be supported and valued. That personal experience, alongside my professional background, has shaped the heart of Where We Belong and the values it stands for.
I believe that play is about so much more than the activities we offer. It’s about the connections we make, the communication we encourage, the friendships that grow and the little moments that mean so much.
At Where We Belong, I want every child to have opportunities to engage, explore and communicate in ways that work for them. Whether that’s through sensory play, shared experiences, AAC, signs or simply enjoying being alongside others, every interaction matters.
My vision for Where We Belong is to create more than just play sessions. I want to build a community where children are accepted, families feel supported and everyone knows they belong.
Because that’s what it has always been about for me. Creating a space where children don’t have to fit in to belong.
Play. Connect. Belong.
We don’t believe children should have to fit in. We believe spaces should be created where they already belong.
